Wooden boards from the Borders
Originally from Swansea, Sarah now lives in Herefordshire, not far from the border with Wales. She began her foray into woodwork by attending furniture-making night classes before eventually taking the plunge and spending a year training at Robinson House Studio. She has never looked back.
Sarah sees her workshop as a place for experimentation. Her work develops over time as she combines things that she’s seen and read with techniques that she’s learnt. Excited by the endless scope for experimentation and learning, Sarah finds working with wood both mentally and physically stimulating.
Each of Sarah’s boards is totally unique. The wood itself determines the final shape and size of the board. Working in this way not only reduces waste, but also celebrates the individuality of her chosen material. Most of the wood used by Sarah is sourced locally, along with a few non-native timbers that she sometimes saves from a scrap bin!
